Top 10 Marvel Games

10. Spider-Man: The Movie: The Game (PC)

This movie mostly averts the problem with licensed games--that is, that they're not very good. It's interesting, as it's based on the movie but contains characters from the comics. Anyway, it's good enough to make me sorry that my CD of it is broken.

9. Spider-Man: Friend or Foe (Wii)

An interesting co-op game where Spider-Man goes on a large quest to defeat the Phantoms and Mysterio. While the levels were a bit long and tedious, its beat-em-up mechanics and combos were just good enough to get it by.

8. Lego Marvel Superheroes

A fine Lego game with a decent story, interesting mechanics, and fun characters. Also, trolling around New York is pretty fun. Anyway, not Marvel's greatest game, but a fun one.

7. Marvel: Avengers Alliance (FB)

Possibly the best Facebook game to ever come about, this turn-based tactics game is full of great matchups, dialogue, and story. It's good enough to be mentioned here, and it's a Facebook game. That should give you a good idea of how good it is. Granted, it turns into a cash grab later, but the early parts are very fun.

6. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

This game, while lacking in graphics and certain level curve issues, paved the way for an excellent sequel. Along with an excellent storyline, this game has a great multiplayer function. It would be surpassed by its sequel in every way except plot, but it was a great game, no mistake.

5. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

Ah, another great Spider-Man game. Boasting four different modes of play and a great story, it's a fun and memorable game. Granted, the levels were a bit long, but the boss fights were plenty to distract you from it.

4. X-Men: The Official Game

This game actually serves as a plot bridge between X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. Terrible 3rd movie aside, this game was awesome, with 3 modes of playing: hack n' slash as Wolverine, teleport/beat-em-up as Nightcrawler, and ice-sliding around as Iceman. It had an excellent plot and gameplay, if it was a bit short.

3. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2

Ah. The game that improved upon Ultimate Alliance in almost every way. With better graphics, level curve issues solved, and a better roster, this game was excellent to play. Granted, the plot's a little weaker, and the levels tend to be overlong, but the combos and characters are amazing.

2. Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds

The best fighting game since Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this game has two companies team up to create an excellent brawler. With teams of three battling, hyper combos, and a great roster of characters, it's everything you could want in a fighting game. Well, except a campaign with plot.

1. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (Wii)

The best Spider-Man game ever. Choose between light and dark as you fight to save New York from an invasion of the symbiotes created by the Black Suit and Venom. With multiple endings, a great story, and finely tuned mechanics, this game was as amazing as Spider-Man.
